Science

The science department offers students an opportunity to explore the physical and biological world at a level and intensity appropriate to his or her interest.

 

Science education should enhance students’ ability to explore natural phenomena and sustain their innate curiosity. By helping investigative skills, students in science will better understand local and global environments and the relationship between science, technology, society, and the quality of life.

At the high school level, academic standards for specific courses continue to build upon the skills and knowledge acquired at earlier stages of science instruction. High school science courses focus on the life sciences, earth science, chemistry, and/or physics. All science courses include laboratory work as well as lecture and discussion with emphasis on critical thinking skills.
