Homecoming Court for 2019

Friday, September 13, was Homecoming at Clarkdale High School.  After a week full of fun and various activities, the Homecoming Court was announced at halftime of the game with Mt. Olive.  The following young ladies were introduced as maids for 2019.

The seventh grade homecoming maid was Kate Clay.  Kate is the daughter of Erica and Steve Clay, and she is escorted by her great-grandfather, David Turley.  Kate enjoys playing with her dog, walking and gymnastics. Kate has won multiple reading and writing awards, and she is active in her church.  One day, she hopes to own her own animal shelter and clinic. Kate’s favorite thing about Clarkdale is how easily someone can make friends. She says that everyone cares for each other, and they are just great people. Kate’s favorite quote comes from Alice and the Wonderland: “Do you suppose she’s a wildflower?”
Eighth grade maid was Kaitlyn Brooke Alexander.  Brooke is the daughter of Brad and Alexis Alexander, and she is escorted by her father.  Brook is a member of the basketball team, and she enjoys gymnastics, swimming, riding horses, and riding four wheelers.  Her favorite thing about Clarkdale is seeing her friends and playing basketball. Brooke’s favorite quote is Phillipians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Freshman Maid was McCall Gilmore.  McCall is the daughter of Heath and Jill Gilmore and she is escorted by her father and her grandfather, C. W. McLemore.  McCall is a member of the CHS cheer squad and the soccer team. She is also a member of FCA and the Jones’ Chapel youth group.  McCall was selected as All American Cheerleader, and she has been voted cutest and class favorite. McCall loves Clarkdale because of her close friends, the teachers that become like family, and the safe small environment.  Her favorite quote comes from Audrey Hepburn: Nothing is impossible - the word itself says I’m possible.
Sophomore Maid was Lauren Elizabeth Wooldrigde.  Lauren is the daughter of Terry and Tiffany Wooldrigde, and she is escorted by her father.  Lauren is a Clarkdale Varsity Cheerleader and a member of HOSA. She is also a member of the Northside Church of Christ. Lauren enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, taking naps, listening to music, and playing the ukulele.  Lauren likes Clarkdale because it’s like a big family where everyone can depend on each other. Her favorite quote comes from Roman Price: If you’re still looking for that one person who can change your life, take a look in the mirror.
The first Junior Maid was Kacie Jackson.  Kacie is the daughter of Christy Jackson and Micheal Matthews.  She is escorted by Brian Smith, a family friend. Kacie has been on the basketball team since the seventh grade, and she won the all-district basketball award.  Kacie enjoys dancing and making people laugh. Her favorite things about Clarkdale are the people and that all of her childhood memories are from Clarkdale. Kacie’s favorite quote is from Michael Jordan: “You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them. 

The second junior maid was Lauren Lewis.  Lauren is the daughter of Wesley and April Lewis, and she is escorted by her father.  Lauren is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, CHS LEADS, the Spanish Club, and the FCA Leadership Team.  She enjoys playing softball, singing, hunting, going to church, and spending time with her family and friends. Lauren loves Clarkdale because it has a great atmosphere.  Since everyone knows everyone else, it is extremely easy to make friends. Plus the teachers always put in effort to help students learn as much as they can, and they are always willing to give extra help if it is needed.  Her favorite quote is : Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.
First senior maid was Bridgette Cerda-Marin.  Bridgette is the daughter of Doris Marin and Roberto Villegas.  She is escorted by her father. Bridgette is a member of CHS LEADS, the Spanish Honor Society, and HOSA.  She is a rural medical and science scholar, a CTE Tech Scholar, a Borloug Scholar, a junior master wellness volunteer scholar, and a Mississippi scholar.  She received the most outstanding HOSA member award and the CTE student of the year. During her free time, Bridgette enjoys educating elementary and middle school students about health literacy, shadowing physicians, and binge watching Netflix. Bridgette loves Clarkdale because it feels like a small community.  Clarkdale allows its students to create friendships with both staff members and other students. Her favorite quote is from Amelia Earhart: The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life, and the procedure process is its own reward.
The next senior maid was Emily Gant.  Emily is the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Chris Gant and Mrs. Sherry Gant, and she is escorted by her father.  Emily is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Meridian, and she is also a member of Class Act Dance Company at Amy’s School of Dance.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, CHS LEADS, and HOSA, where she served as Historian. Emily is also a graduate of Leadership Lauderdale Youth, and she was a Girls’ State Delegate.  Emily loves the close knit bond at Clarkdale and the way everyone seems like one big family. Her favorite quote is from John Wayne: Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway.
Football Maid was Nealy Gilmore.  Nealy is the daughter of Heath and Jill Gilmore, and she is escorted by her father.  Nealy is a cheerleader, and she is the baseball statistician. She is the social chairman of Dusty Social Club.  She has been a Bulldog Beauty choreographer for the past three years, and she is a member of FCA, the Spanish Club, National Honor Society, UpDawgs, CHS LEADS, and Leadership Lauderdale Youth.  Nealy has been an All American Cheerleader and has won the cheer pin it forward award. She has been named Most Beautiful, Best Personality, and Best Hair. One of Nealy’s favorite things about Clarkdale is that she has gotten to attend the same school as the majority of her family, and she has had some of the same loving and supportive teachers.  Her favorite quote is from Maya Angelou: People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.
The Student Body Maid is Hannah Beech.  Hannah is the daughter of Tim and Trina Beech, and she is escorted by her father.  Hannah is a member of Meridian Church of Christ. At Clarkdale, she is a member of CHS LEADS, SADD, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and FCA.  She is also on the cheer squad and the tennis team. Hannah won the Most Outstanding Cheerleader award, and she has been an All Americaan Cheerleader, a Jump Off Winner, and a Pin It Forward winner at cheer camp.  Hannah has been a choreographer for the Bulldog Beauties, and she has been named Best Attitude in Who’s Who. Hannah has a list of things she likes best about Clarkdale:
  1. The family like atmosphere.
  2. Everyone supports one another, and
  3. Teachers make you feel like you are their own, and they are always willing to help, no matter if it is with school work or life advice.
